Insulin syringe units to mL
On a standard U-100 insulin syringe, 100 units is 1 mL, so 1 unit is 0.01 mL and 10 units is 0.1 mL. To turn units into mL, divide by 100. To turn mL into units, multiply by 100.
The injection volume calculator turns mg into mL and units for any vial strength, and the reconstitution calculator does the same for powder vials mixed with water (including IU). Both run in your browser.

1 mL is the same as 1 cc. Volumes over 100 units need more than one draw on a 1 mL insulin syringe, or a larger syringe marked in mL.
Questions
How many mL is 10 units on an insulin syringe?
0.1 mL. A U-100 insulin syringe holds 100 units in 1 mL, so each unit is 0.01 mL. Divide the units by 100 to get mL: 30 units is 0.3 mL and 50 units is 0.5 mL.
How do I convert mL to units?
Multiply the mL by 100. 0.25 mL is 25 units, 0.5 mL is 50 units and 1 mL is the 100 mark. This only works for U-100 syringes, which are the standard ones sold today.
Is a unit on the syringe the same as an IU on the vial?
No. Syringe units measure volume. IU (international units) on a vial of HCG, growth hormone or insulin measure the amount of medicine, and how many IU are in each mL depends on how the vial was mixed. Use the reconstitution calculator to turn IU into units on the syringe.
What size is a 3/10 cc syringe?
3/10 cc is 0.3 mL, which is 30 units. A 1/2 cc syringe is 0.5 mL (50 units) and a 1 cc syringe is 1 mL (100 units). 1 cc is the same as 1 mL.
What about U-40 syringes?
U-40 syringes hold 40 units per mL and are used mostly for some pet insulins. On a U-40 syringe each unit is 0.025 mL, so this chart doesn't apply. Check the U-number printed on the syringe or its packet.
For measuring only: your prescriber or pharmacist sets the amount. Always check the U-number on the syringe matches the one you were shown.
