Getting started

Assistant

Note: this part of the app comes with a licence. The free edition covers injections.

The Assistant is a chat that looks things up in your own log. Ask in your own words and you get a short answer, a table, and buttons that open the right screen.

It runs on your phone and sends nothing anywhere. It never gives medical advice.

Opening it

Tap the chat bubble in the top bar. A dot on it means there's a message you haven't read.

Your chats are listed first. The ETS chat is where the app's own messages go. Tap New chat to start another one for something else you want to ask about.

What you can ask

Type a question, or tap one of the suggestions:

  • What's due?: what's due now, and any missed doses
  • How's my stock?: what's open and sealed, how long it lasts, and anything running low
  • Next injection site: the next site in your rotation, going by where you injected last
  • Describe my week: a summary of this week from your log. This takes a moment, so it says "Leave it with me" and the answer arrives in the chat shortly after.

You can also ask about your last doses, your blood tests (as the lab reported them) and your next planned test, your training, your lifts, your sleep, readiness and body weight, for example "my last doses", "what should I train today?", "when did I last train legs", "how much should I bench?", "weight this month" or "how many workouts this week". Training answers come from your programme, the catch-up workout and the progression the workout screen suggests. Questions like "how do I…" or "where is…" open the right place in the app. Answers say they come from your log, and the buttons under them open the screen with the details.

If it can't match a question to your log, it shows the places in the app that might be what you're after.

No medical advice

The Assistant only shows what you've logged. For medical questions, such as whether to take something, whether a dose or a blood result is OK, or a side effect or symptom, it won't say what you should do, whether something is safe, or what a result means for you. Instead it says your doctor is the person to ask, and offers to make the doctor report or show your blood tests and doses.

Messages it sends first

Now and then the Assistant starts the conversation in the ETS chat:

  • when a dose from yesterday isn't in your log, it asks whether you took it, with Yes, log it, I skipped it and Not now
  • when it's time to reorder, it says how long your stock lasts, with I've ordered and Open Stock
  • on a Monday, a short recap of last week, but only if the chat has been quiet for a few days

It keeps these few and far between:

  • never between 9pm and 9am
  • at most one a day, across all your chats
  • never a third message in a row when you haven't answered the last two

A message that's already dealt with by the time it would be sent (you logged the dose, say) isn't sent at all. One that's out of date is dropped rather than sent late.

Morning follow-up

In the Android app, the Assistant can send one notification at 9am if a dose from the day before isn't logged. The same limits apply. Turn it on or off with the Morning follow-up switch on the chat list.

Your chats

Chats are kept on your phone with the rest of your log, so they're included in your backups.

With or without on-device AI

The common questions work on every phone. On phones with on-device AI (Gemini Nano), it also understands more ways of asking and can put your week into words. The AI only turns your question into a search, which the app runs on your log, or words the facts the app found. Answers it helped with are marked On-device AI.
