Progress photos, Rewind and Chapters
Note: this part of the app comes with a licence. The free edition covers injections.
Progress photos live on Health → Body, in the Progress photos card. From there you can take them in the photo booth, add one at a time, import lots at once, or compare two.
Photos stay on your phone only. They aren't in backups or Google Drive, and location data is removed. Tap a photo, then Save a copy, for any you want to keep somewhere else.
Photo booth
Photo booth opens the camera with last time's photo laid over it, so you stand in the same spot and hold the phone at the same height. Photos taken this way line up from one check-in to the next.
- Take: Front, Side, Back or All three. All three takes them one after another, telling you when to turn.
- Last time's photo: shown as an Outline, Faded, or Off.
- Timer: Off, 5 s or 10 s. With a timer you can set the phone down, step back and take all three hands-free. It beeps as it counts down.
- Switch camera swaps between the front and back cameras.
While you line up, the app checks two things:
- Level: it says "Phone is straight", or which way to tilt the phone.
- Light: it says "Light like last time", or whether the room is darker or brighter than last time.
When you're done, check the photos, Retake any you don't like, then tap Save to keep them for today. The camera picture is only shown on your screen and saved when you tap Save.
The photo booth works in the iPhone web app too.
Importing photos in bulk
To bring in photos you've already taken, tap Import from your photos, then Choose photos. Pick as many as you like. The picker includes Google Photos, so you can open an album and select a whole run of check-ins.
Each photo goes on the day it was taken. Before saving, check each one:
- The date: taken from the photo itself, or from the file name. If a photo has no date, the app asks you to check it.
- The pose: Front, Side or Back. Set every photo to changes them all at once.
- Import: untick any you don't want.
Photos already in ETS are spotted and left out. Then tap Save. You can import up to 150 at a time; Add more brings in another batch.
On phones with on-device AI, Gemini Nano suggests each photo's pose and leaves out pictures that don't look like progress photos. It's only a suggestion, so check it. Tap Stop and set them myself to do it by hand.
Rewind
Rewind puts your whole journey on one timeline. Open it from the Rewind card on Training → History or Health → Overview. It needs a couple of weeks of history first. In the iPhone web app, use the card on Training → History.
Drag along the timeline, or tap play, and the screen shows that day as it was:
- your progress photo
- body weight (7-day average)
- estimated maxes on your main lifts
- resting heart rate, HRV and sleep
- the muscle map for that week
- check-ins and blood tests, if you log them
Each number has a small line showing the whole journey, and the change from then to now. Tap a line to jump to that day.
Milestones
Milestones sit along the timeline: your first workout, workout counts, new bests, blood tests, your lightest and heaviest body weight, your first progress photo, and changes in your protocol. Use the arrows to step from one milestone to the next, or tap one in the list to jump to it.
If you take more than one pose, choose which one Rewind follows under Photos.
Compare
Tap Compare to pin a Before day. The timeline then moves After; tap Before to move that instead. The two photos meet in a slider you drag to compare, and every number shows the change between the two days. Swap switches them, and Play it plays the time between.
Sharing
Tap Share to make a then-and-now image of two days: the day you're on and today, or your Before and After. Choose what goes in: Progress photos, Body weight and Main lifts. Then tap Share image.
With at least three photos between the two days, Make the video turns them into a short timelapse with the date on each. Body weight is shown when it's switched on. Tap Share video to send it.
Shared images and videos only ever include photos, dates, weight and lifts. Your compounds, doses, estimated levels and blood results are never included. Everything is made on your phone and only goes where you share it.
Chapters
Chapters split your history wherever your protocol or training programme changed. Open them from the Chapters card on Training → History or Health → Overview. They need about a month of history, and the card appears once there are two chapters.
Each chapter shows what you logged and what happened over it, per week, so chapters of different lengths sit side by side:
- body weight
- estimated maxes on your main lifts
- training: workouts and sets a week
- recovery and check-in averages
- blood tests in that chapter
- the first and last progress photo
Tap Details for the full picture, then:
- Open in Rewind to go through that chapter day by day
- Rename it
- Join with the chapter before
- Split… it on a day you choose
To compare two, tap Compare, pick two chapters, then tap Compare again. Open both in Rewind opens them as Before and After.
Note: Chapters and Rewind are a record of what happened, not what caused it. Food, sleep, training, stress and the season all play a part.
